You know, as a writer, there’s almost nothing I like more than formatting eBooks. Watching grass grow perhaps. Maybe stubbing my toe but…. Come to think of it, there are a lot of things I like more than formatting eBooks.
Which is why I’m happy to say I’ve finished formatting the latest versions of all the books for now. And hopefully, with the new source files I’ve created, it’ll be much easier when it comes to making any additional updates in the future.
Now you may be wondering what’s changed, and the answer to that is not much. However, I’ve been working on restarting my reader’s newsletter and I needed to let people know I’m back in business, so to speak. So all the books now have an elegant graphic ad on the first page, designed by yours truly, and a link to where you can sign up for the newsletter.
If you’re interested, that link is hamishspiers.com/subscribe. I’m happy to share it here as well. It’s not intended to be some top secret. The more the merrier, right? (I just hope I don’t end up with a whole lot of bots.) So if you want to, go on and sign up!
Basically, the newsletter is just a way for readers to keep in touch and find out about future projects and new releases. I’ve said somewhere earlier – maybe on this blog – that I’m not going to email my readers every single day because you know how annoying that can be. You know that feeling when you open your inbox after a week’s break and discover ten emails from the same guy. And if you’re anything like me, you probably hit the unsubscribe button and delete the lot of them.
So I don’t do that. Instead I’ll get in touch once or twice a month but not more. Also, while I wish I could say otherwise, my life isn’t eventful enough to warrant daily news updates anyway. Although if you’re interested, right now I’m typing up a blog post and enjoying the light breeze coming through the window. Exciting, isn’t it? But truth be told, it’s a special day for me today for other reasons and I will be celebrating later and going out for an early dinner with my wife and son. And I’m really looking forward to that.
And in other news, while these things are still relatively fresh in my memory, I’m thinking of putting up some how-to guides on this website for creating landing pages and opt-in subscription forms, as well as formatting eBooks. I spent nearly a week figuring out how to do the first two things and almost another week doing the latter. And while there’s not much you can do to speed up the process of formatting eBooks, you can create landing pages and opt-in forms with a lot less frustration than I experienced if you know how to do it properly. And perhaps if I share some of the lessons I learned in what to do and what not to do, I can help other people are trying to do these things. So watch this space.
And that’s it from me. Now that all those other chores are done, I can return to my current writing project. Good times.
Hope you’re doing well. Talk to you again soon.
